If the white ground is silence, the black ground is something older. Not the absence of light but the presence of depth — the darkness before the first signal, the field in which all transmission begins.
In the Black Geometry series, the same geometric language that arrived through the white works returns through a different frequency. The same ancient symbols, the same unconscious reception — but now held in a ground that absorbs rather than reflects, that pulls the forms inward rather than letting them float.
In Black Geometry 4, a gold acrylic ring holds the composition together with quiet authority — luminous against the deep black, a frequency made visible. Within and around it, soft pink forms and layered textured shapes carry a delicacy that the black ground makes more rather than less powerful. A large white circle anchors the lower portion of the composition — not decoratively, but structurally, the way a foundation stone carries everything placed above it. The interplay between the raw textures and the smoothness of the gold is tactile even at a distance, the kind of surface quality that changes with the light and with the angle of looking.
These symbols were not designed. They came through — in that particular state of receptivity that the studio makes possible, where the hand moves and the mind follows rather than leads. Whether they are transmissions from a consciousness more ancient than our recorded history, or the visual language of something we are only beginning to approach, they carry a charge that description alone cannot transfer.
