Some works arrive fully formed. Others are the result of an artist stepping into unfamiliar territory — choosing a technique they have never used, with no certainty of what will come out the other side.
Ceremonial is that kind of work.
This triptych marks the artist's first exploration of cold wax — a medium that demands a different kind of attention. Slower. More physical. Built through layers of cold wax, oil paint and varnish on birchwood panel, the surface becomes something between painting and object. Matte, dense, textured — light doesn't reflect off it so much as sink into it. There is an earthiness here entirely absent from the rest of the collection, as if the work belongs to a different and older tradition.
Three panels, each 20 × 20 cm, hang together as a single composition. They read as fragments of the same ritual — related but not identical, unified but not repetitive. A trinity. Or a timeline. Or simply three moments of the same sustained silence, placed side by side.
Ceremonial doesn't perform. It holds. And in a collection built around energy and movement, that stillness becomes its own kind of power.
