From Below, the Signal
FROM BELOW, THE SIGNAL
The Earth doesn't communicate through language. It communicates through pressure, through heat, through the slow emergence of matter from depth — processes that take millennia but arrive, eventually, at the surface.
From Below, the Signal begins there.
A luminous green-yellow form rises from a deep black field — organic, cellular, unmistakably alive. It doesn't burst upward. It emerges, with the particular patience of something that has been building for a very long time. Above it, a blue-green orb hovers — distant but present, like a witness that has been waiting for exactly this moment.
The surface is where this painting truly lives. Built from a handcrafted mixture of gesso, acrylic, sodium bicarbonate and medium developed in the studio through years of material experimentation, the texture is geological — carved, scarred, layered like sediment. Markings etched into the ground read like fossilised code, as if the panel itself holds memory from before the painting began. This is not a smooth surface asking to be admired from across the room. It demands proximity. It rewards touch — though the real conversation happens through the eyes, close up, where the depth of the material becomes impossible to ignore.
Some signals travel upward from places we have forgotten to listen to. This one has finally arrived.
