Iced Latte
ICED LATTE
Everyone has their coffee order. And everyone who has a coffee order knows that it says something about them — not everything, but something. The person who takes a double espresso standing at the bar is having a different morning than the person who lingers over an iced latte in the sun. Same drink, different universe. Same caffeine, different relationship to time.
The Italian moka pot is one of the great democratic objects of modern life. It has sat on the stoves of artists, workers, grandmothers and insomniacs across three continents for nearly a century — heating the same water, forcing it through the same ground coffee, producing the same concentrated ritual that says: the day begins here. It doesn't care who you are. It makes coffee for everyone.
But Iced Latte is not a serious coffee moment. It is the summer version — fluorescent pink and green, unhurried, luminous against a golden background of cellular shapes and circles that pulse with the particular energy of a warm afternoon with nowhere urgent to be. This moka pot has been somewhere. It has absorbed the colour of every mood it has witnessed — the slow mornings, the creative afternoons, the conversations that went on longer than planned because nobody wanted them to end.
Part of the Coffee Pots series — works that explore the ordinary ritual object as a mirror of human personality and mood — Iced Latte is the one that chose summer. That ordered something cold. That decided today was for colour and light and the particular pleasure of taking your time.
