In the sultry summer of 2016, the artist embarked on a journey to The Lost City in the Santa Marta mountains of Colombia. On the final night of the five-day journey, the artist took a stroll with their companions and was struck by the mesmerizing beauty of the starry sky. The Milky Way, in all its grandeur, was on full display, and the artist was awestruck at the sight. The twinkling of thousands of fireflies on the surrounding mountains added to the spectacle, leaving the artist moved and enchanted.
In "Summer Night Dream," the background of the painting is an ode to the millions of stars mingling with the fireflies, portraying the enchanting scene that night. The vase symbolizes the artist, filling up with the wonder and awe-inspiring spectacle, and connecting with it. The colors and textures of the painting capture the artist's emotions and experience.
