THE VEIL LIFTS

Not everything that changes announces itself. Some shifts happen at the level of perception — quiet, internal, irreversible. One day the world looks the same as it always has. The next, something underneath it has become visible that wasn't before.

The Veil Lifts holds that exact threshold.

The surface is divided. One side carries raw, exposed texture — gesso, sodium bicarbonate and medium built up by hand into a terrain that reads like earth, like skin, like something unfinished on purpose. The other side sinks into dense black impasto, heavy and silent. Between them, at the centre, a bisected circle — half white, half deep blue — sits with the quiet authority of something that has always been there, waiting to be seen. A sphere. A portal. A memory surfacing.

The composition is stark in the way that only truly confident paintings can afford to be. No excess. Nothing decorative. Every element carries weight precisely because there are so few of them.

Built from the same handcrafted textural mixture developed in the studio — acrylic, gesso, sodium bicarbonate and medium glaze on birchwood panel — the surface is as much sculpture as painting. What the eye reads as colour, the hand would read as terrain.

Some things only become visible once you stop looking away.
