MEMENTO MORI 3.0

Some lives don't need a crown because they never mistook themselves for anything less than what they were.

There is a particular kind of person — rarer than we think — who moves through the world without the constant negotiation between who they are and who they are supposed to be. Who didn't accumulate the crown because they didn't need the external confirmation. Who lived from the inside out, rather than the outside in, and arrived at the end of the passage with the particular serenity of someone who never spent a single day pretending to be someone else.

The graphite that traces this skull does not flinch. It is the most honest line in the series — the bare architecture of what a life is made of, stripped of embellishment, drawn with the same directness that this being moved through the world. Around it, yellow erupts into purple and gold in a backdrop that carries all the complexity and colour of the life that was lived — vivid, contradictory, fully inhabited. The skull at the centre of that explosion is not diminished by its simplicity. It is clarified by it.

The gold that moves through the composition is not decoration. It is light — the particular quality of illumination that surrounds a life that was spent in genuine alignment with what it actually was.

No crown. No crossbones. Just the most fundamental truth: this was here, and it was completely itself, and that was enough.
